This image showcases a two-part sand casting mold prepared inside an aluminum flask. The mold cavity has been carefully formed in fine casting sand, revealing a detailed radial design with a central emblem and multiple feed channels. The clean impressions, smooth sand surface, and accurately placed gates demonstrate the precision and craftsmanship involved in the mold-making process. Once assembled, the mold is ready for molten metal to be poured, producing a cast component with intricate details and consistent quality.

Materials

All of the precious metals I work with are purchased from Cooksongold, a premier UK-based manufacturer and supplier to the jewellery industry.

I opt for Cookson’s 100% recycled sterling silver which is fully traceable and equal in quality to non-recycled products.

I also recycle as much of my own scrap as possible by melting it down and forging it into wire or sheet, or pouring directly in to a sand cast mould for a one-off piece.

Any thing that I don’t recycle I send back to Cookson to make the most of their recycling service ensuring that nothing is wasted!
